Few weeks ago, Greek Doom Metal legends Selefice released their comeback EP, “I Met A God”.
The album carries 4 original tracks: Mora, Kol Haneshama, I Met A God, and Damned. All of them are beautifully written and composed.
“Mora” is the first track, but as for me its position is good. It defines the musical mood and atmosphere for Selefice. Selefice has catchy classic Doom sound, it calls Saturnus a lot in my mind.
But, Mora has another amusing taste which is ghostly taste that reflects the demonic and horrific nightmares and sleeping ghosts. There is attractive atmospheric/ambient classic touches in the heart of the music which is enriched with the beautifully performed solo.
The second track is “Kol Haneshama” which is my favorite track! Good intro carries emotional amusing taste. Its riffs and movements beautifully written. I liked the presence of the darkened spoken parts that drive the heartstrings to ache.
Next, “I Met A God”. It’s the longest and most active track in the album. The intro was shocking somehow, it brings a mythical mood. It is full of movements, wanderers between enraged imagination and painful reality. Even, the musical combination itself carries Atmospheric Doom Metal influences. The long instrumental part is highly catchy and emotional. It is like an act of open conversations between instruments.
Finally, Damned! The name of the track defines its mood. I liked its intro a lot. But, its riffs are really painful and darkened. The mood of the track brings one picture to my mind, a man who stands on a stage and performing impressive, attractive monologue.
Summing up, The Ep is really beautiful Doom Metal piece that revives missed classic Depressive Doom Metal sounds. I hope that my plans of my trip to Greece turns to reality and catch Selefice performance at The Room of Doom in October with Shattered Hopes and Clouds \m/
The rate is: 8.5/10.
