Few days ago, Swedish Melodic Death Metal Band Zephyra released their third full length album “Fall. Rise. Conquer” via Kingart Music Production.
The album contains 9 original tracks and 1 cover. But to be honest, the release surprised me a lot! It is my first time to review a release from Kingart Music and to listen to Zephyra! And, I am really amazed!
The tracks are really well-composed and mixing. There is amazing mixture of sounds! Powerful guitar riffs with tuned headbanging mood.
Also, the beats of drums add a strong, harsh sound and really they are really backed the amount of aggression, power and strength in riffs.
Another thing I want to mention is the usage of keys. The keys are great addition to the music. They enrich the music through adding those Symphonic and ambient sound.
They give the tracks more epic dimension! Also, the keys play another role which is adding some industrial touches, within the intros and the outros. I think their presence create more vivid, modern sound.
Finally, the vocals are incredible! Åsa does legendary work. She uses different pitches from clean, to high clean pitches and different types of growling and harsh high pitches. She is really mastering choosing the right position for each vocal type, her timing is really professional!
Now, I will talk about my most favorites from the album.
“Dreams Denied” is a great start for the album, it is open with those industrial sounds and carries this mood I described above. “Waiting for Nothing” is a very good one too! I think, it carries this harsh, active mood but with a more impressive performance!
What is really impressive in this album is the cover! “Nothing Else Matters”! All time favorite! The band re-mixed the whole track from A to Z.
The soft opening that brainstorms your thoughts and recalls the original song, then, the really high guitars with aching sound and backing keys! Then, the vocals come with weeping, high clean pitches! Great cover!
Finally, Letter for you, a calm, emotional track with sense of Gothic! Which is really special and different among the rest of the album!
And in the end, I would like to add my rate which is 8/10.
