The Beauty of Composition and The Magic of Covering in Hate Field's Music

By: Rana Atef (Originally Published on my first blog on 9, June, 2016)

Hate Field band is formed in 2009 by Alfi Hayati, the ex-bassist of "Odious" and the ex-guitarist of "Midnight Symphony". The band is formed to introduce new music to express the thoughts and inner feelings of the band's members. The band is formed as a solo project, then It has released its first album in 2012 via Domestic Genocide Records. The band has turned to a full band after Ramzy Mayas, Mostafa Farrag and Mahmoud Ali have joined the band. In 2014, the band has released its second release "Jägerbomb" -EP- has followed by a live album "Acoustic for A Night" in 2015. Currently, Hate Field is working on its upcoming album. Through the article, you can have a detailed review for Hate Field discography. You can feel the changes, the improvement, and the style of Hate Field's music

Hate Field's Music In General

As Hate Field's members have expressed, Hate Field music is mainly concerned with the inner thoughts and feelings of the member, especially, its founder Alfi Hayati. The Music of Hate Field is attractive, dynamic, strong and colorful. It is full of catchy melodies and some oriental riffs. The music is also, full of Electronic/Atmospheric/Symphonic touches. A Final note about Hate Field's music which is repetition, many of Hate Field's songs have represented repeated parts within the same track like "Sweet Nightmare", "Angels Gone  Wild", and "New Born's Army". The experience of Hate Field's member with Odious appears in the usage of Oriental/Folk touches and riffs. The passion of German culture and language has represented in "JägerBomb", "Altes Feiber" acoustic cover and "Mein Herz Brennt" acoustic cover. The passion of Metallica and Heavy Metal bands appeared in the  melodic tunes of Hate Field's music.and in covering many tracks of Metallica as "Turn The Page" and St Anger

Scary Fairy Tale

Unfortunately, the full tracks of the album are not available online, so this article will deal with Sweet Nightmare, New Born's Army, Maybe In Another Life, Hope Overdose and After The Storm from Scary Fairy Tale. The Music of the mentioned tracks, in general, They are highly melodic. As the intro of "Sweet Nightmare". You may feel that the main riffs of Hate Field are closer to "Heavy Metal" mixed with the electronic effects and the symphonic touches. The concepts of the album are darkened ones like Love, Hatred, Anger, Rage, Depression, and Murder. Depression, Anger, and Murder are reflected through the usage of Harsh Vocals, Strong drums, high melodic riffs. In "Hope Overdose" in 2:37 before the spoken part, the atmospheric touches reflect the darkness of the mind when it is thinking of death. The crazy electronic or Industrial elements as the ones used in "Maybe In Another Life" and "New Born's Army" have reflected the high anger of the soul and mind. The Rage which leads the mind to make wrong decisions then the soul meets signs of regret. Most of the vocals of the mentioned track were harsh or darkened clean vocals pitches. Folk and Oriental riffs in Hate Field music give the music more richness. Symphonic Soprano vocals are used as a background for Alfi Hayati's vocals as in "Hope Overdose". Storytelling part in "Hope Overdose" it was unique part how to use music to represent a story

Jägerbomb

It is unlike Scary Fairy Tale. It is full of cheerful tunes and riffs. Pure clean vocals are dominant ones. The concepts of the album are joy, drinking, playing, fun and madness. The release carries many oriental touches like in "Laura" and  more usage of industrial/Symphonic touches like in "Angles Gone Wild" and "Jägerbomb". The whole album is like a story which is divided into stations like the intro of "Kalkbreit". "Jägerbomb" carries something different which is German lyrics addition. Jägerbomb is a cheerful beautiful piece of music to escape from a depressed, darkened mood to a colorful spot of light in the life

Acoustic For A Night

Hate Field has performed last year an acoustic concert. The band performed their tracks with more expressive mode. "Sweet Nightmare" is performed with higher and happier vocals unlike Scary Fairy Tale version which carries darkened sorrowful pitches. "Angels Gone Wild", "Scream In Silence", and "Xelafi" are closer to the Greek  taste. There is the taste of Alexandrian hybridity, where the culture of the Greek and the Roman and the taste of the orient combined in one place. You can smell the sea, the air, and the beach in the riffs of "Xelafi". "New Born's Army" is performed with beautiful catchy clean vocals although the original version is represented with Harsh vocals. The oriental taste in parts of "Angels Gone Wild" and "New Born's Army" is highly nostalgic

 The Magic of covering

The second part of the article deals with Hate Field's covers. Hate Field presents different and unfamiliar Metal covers for many tracks like  "Set Fire To Rain" and famous Egyptian song "Etfadal Men Gheer Matrod". In "Acoustic For A Night", Hate Field perfectly turns a piece of Atmospheric Death Metal music into a magical emotional acoustic version which is "Evol Morena". "Add Reality", "Turn The Page" and "Tears Of The Dragon" are performed through the highest degree of the magic, emotions and perfection. You can taste the depressed tone in the Alfi Hayati's clean vocals, the mourning of the instruments and the crying of the riffs

Personal Perspective

My personal opinion in Hate Field's Music. Actually, I am in love with Hate Field's music. Many people have objected me and they don't believe me when I say my opinion in this kind of music. In fact, there is a great difference between like track or certain kind of music and feel track or music. Feeling the music nobody can understand your spiritual connection with it except you. It is something nobody can explain. Hate  Field's music as for me is Depression killer, loneliness killer, and pain killer. Many nights I stay alone far of people, away everyone's mind , just all I have my pain killers. I use them to create my own world, my own hopes, and my own thoughts. Tears, Sounds of weeping, tears of blood through my cutting sessions and thoughts of suicide rise through hundreds of dark nights. All I have this music. I don't care for anyone understands that or not and I don't have to explain my inner feelings towards something I love. It is an innocent kind of passion, you may think it  kind of exaggerating but as for it's a reality. In fact, I am  lucky enough to have  the chance to meet 2 members from Hate Field's band in the latest Metal Blast concert. It is like the dream which is come true to meet the members of one of my favorite bands and to have the chance to talk to them and have a great memory with them

This part is full of power with slight changes in our format to be easier to follow!     Adrastea (Greece ) A great voice shining from the lands of Hera and Zeus, Adrastea is rocking the Greek Metal Scene with her band Entropy Devine.  We  started with Adrastea by asking her about how she started her career.  "   I have been singing since I can remember myself. I was always a rocker so I remember I would always find a way to secretly sneak into music related activities.  I was not allowed to learn music, cause, you know  I am a woman and I should do all that society expects from a woman and nothing more.)  So I figured creative ways of doing so as a part of my Rock 'N Roll rebellion while  growing up,"  she answered. Next, we asked her about how she met her band mates.   " From an ad in search
