Interview with Evadne
It is my first time to interview a Spanish band, we may not have a well image for the Spanish Metal Scene.
So I am so thrilled to have this interview with you guys to provide your fans in the Middle East. So let's start with the band's name "Evadne", why did you choose this name, and what are your main influences?
We choose this name by the meaning that had for us both in the lyrics and in the music. Evadne was a Greek demigod who committed suicide for love and her story convinced and inspired us to shape the band we wanted to build!
Our main influences are the bands of the 90s,although we are also influenced by great current bands such as Swallow the Sun, Shape of Despair, Draconian, Daylight Dies, Novembers Doom, etc... And of course we are very influenced by life and everything that involves being human in this society of nowadays!
While I am scrolling your page on Facebook, you seem that you have heavy, busy plans since your latest album release, how did you manage your time, how did you contact organizers?
We are trying to do concerts to share our latest work "A Mother Named Death" less that we would like to do, but unfortunately is what we have in this moment!
sometimes the organizers contact us and we agreed on the conditions and other times we are the ones who offer us to be part of a concert or festival!
"A Mother Named Death" is somehow shocking title, as well as the cover art, what are the concepts you tackled in the album
We are very satisfied with the choice of the name of the album and the design of the cover, this album for us has a great impact on the problems that society tries to hide, feeling and sickness that people that do not recognize as the isolation, loneliness, sorrow, old age... through music we can talk about all of this without any taboo!
Evadne shared the stage with many Doom Metal icons such as Novembers Doom, and Swallow the Sun, did they share any thoughts, or experience with you?
No doubt it is always exciting to share stage with people that you admire musically. At the end you realize that they are people like us and for this you admire them even more.
For us the best of all is to meet new people and share something as profound as music.
Can you give us a map, or a description for the Spanish Metal Scene, currently?
I can tell you that musically it is a diamond in the rough because there are a great musical level in many different styles inside of metal (Angelus Apatrida, Foscor, Avulsed or Helevorn) they are just an example of it, but unfortunately we know that there is not the support that we deserves and many bands of great quality fall on the way.
In Spain, people use to listen music far away from the metal styles and this deny us support to make all that we have in mind.
Since 2003, what are the problems you faced through your 15 year career?
There have been many, from changes in the formation of the band to difficulty to find professional studios to make the recordings and find the time to the music between the work and the families but we are proud to continue forming part of this world and contribute our bit to this wonderful musical style.
Your 10th anniversary album "In the Bitterness of Our Souls", featured Natalie Koskinen of Shape of Despair, How did you contact her, and what was her feedback?
We came up with the idea that someone special will collaborate for the 10th anniversary of our musical debut and we decided to contact with Natalie to see what her predisposition was.
From the first moment she showed great interest in being part of something so special for us, we are very satisfied with her work, we are all big fans of "Shape of Despair" and being able to count on Natalie for us was incredible.
Also collaborated Fiar of the band " Foscor " who did a great job in the voices in the song "Bleak Remembrance".
Tell us more about your music video "Scars that Bleed Again"
The video was made by Henry Menacho of Kronic Produccions, it was a great experience record with him and we are very satisfied with the final result and with the people impressions about the work. In few weeks we are going to release a new one, we hope to have a good feedback from the new one too!!!
Ok, I want to move to your fans in the Middle East, did any fans from this region contact you before?
Yes, we have contact with fans of the Middle East through Facebook, and we talk with them sometimes, I think the Middle East people is the most communicative and the ones that morefeedback that we have (out of Spain).
I don’t know why, but is true. We are pleased to know how far our music can go
Do you got any offers to perform in Arabic or Middle Eastern country?
Not for now, but the truth is that we dream inplay in such distant lands for us!
Do you have any contacts with Middle Eastern band?
I do not remember it but I think we have never contacted any band from the Middle Eastern.
Finally, could send a message to your fans in the world.
Thank you guys again for giving me this precious chance, we hope to see you as soon as possible over a stage and of course at the end of the gigs to share time with all of you.
Thank you for giving us this great opportunity to share our story with our fans!
See you!
Stay doomed
