Introduction

Hello guys, the Dark Knight is BACK again with a new full length album review. Another Review from Egypt to Italy. June 1974 is an Italian instrumental experimental solo project by the Italian composer Federico Romano in 2009. "Nemesi" is released in June 2018, via Visionaire Records

Few weeks ago, I've a received a humble message from Romano asked me to send me his latest album, as I recently have a good relationship with many Italian Metal bands, I was so excited to listen to June 1974 latest album, especially after checking the press kit of the album.

June 1974 "Nemesi" album was mixed and mastered by Tommy Talamanca (Sadist guitar player) at Nadir Studios in March 2018. June 1974 bandlogo by Christophe Szpajdel (Emperor, Old Mans Child, Enthroned, Borknagar, Moonspell & Covenant (now Kovenant) and tons of others) and the cover was designed by Natalie Shau (Cradle Of Filth/Sopor Aeternus).

As the press kit indicates the album features a big number of great guests musicians from respected names in the European Metal Scene.

Here is the tracklist of the album with the list of featured musicians:

 “Inoubliable” featuring Tommy Talamanca (Sadist)

“Narciso” featuring John Cordoni (Necromass)

“Home” featuring Francesco Conte (klimt 1918)

“Panorama” featuring AndyLaRocque (King Diamond) and Tommy Talamanca (Sadist)

“Nothing Man” featuring Jørgen Munkeby (Shining/Ihsahn)

“Death Note”featuring Patrick Mameli (Pestilence)

“Arcadia” featuring Paul Masvidal (Cynic/Death)

“Creed” featuring James Murphy (Obituary/Death/Testament/Cancer/Gorguts/Disincarnate)

“Beloved” featuring Francesco Sosto (The Foreshadowing)

The Review

To be honest, this album is one of the best choices for late night/early morning day period. I am reviewing it at 3 am. so I feel the beauty, and the vividness of its rhythms. It is not created for the madness of life in the day but for the calmness, magical part of the late night, in Winter, in Autumn.

A spiritual journey through 10 tracks, a magical and magnificent combination from keys, synths, guitars, and drums, just you are listening to a dozen of instrumental conversations and monologues.

For example, “Inoubliable” paints a portrait for the sunrise, for the early beats of the dawn, I just closed my eyes, and let my soul dive into the sounds, I smelled the early drops of waters, felt the early, energetic fresh air. While, "Narciso" has more guitar work, more distortions, and acoustic tunes alongside Keys. It is like running into water, running through massive fields of madness, your soul is above, it is like a call back to nature.

Regarding "Home", it starts with magical, warm sounds like steps, like walking to your comfort zone, relief corner. The taste of warmth, the taste of reaching fulfillment, you can trace that in the guitars work. Unlike "Panorama" which starts with somehow dynamic distortions like escaping, running, and that is supported by the angry, active snares work.

"Nothing Man" is like a deep look into yourself, that's beautifully scripted in those aching, mourning Saxophone sounds. It enriches the track with this classy, classic, Jazzy mood.

"Death Note" is a really darkened track, as it portraits a creepy theme. Actually, "Death Note" is the longest track in the album. Each instrument gives you a horrific death sound, whether the synths, the keys, the guitars. What's really magnificent is the final part of acoustic sounds, it somehow breaks this horrific atmosphere of the track.

"Arcadia" and "Creed" are the most dynamic, and the fastest track in the album, and I actually liked the presence of calm parts within the tracks to give your ears some sort of break. But, the solo in "Creed" is really killing one, it is somehow alerting! "Creed" also carries some orchestration work, or choirs work.

Finally, "Beloved" is a real love song, dreamy, nocturnal one, I liked its emotional notes of keys, it is the best outro for such a beautiful album.

In a nutshell, the music of the album is so unique, and different, it is not like the rest of instrumental albums I've ever heard. I like the beauty of composition and sound mixing. It really calming, relaxing. It is good for either pre-bedtime or post-early wake up. You can trace the fresh vivid smell of morning, and the colorful magnificent images of nature.

The Metal Divas: Female Metal Voices Around the World VII

As we are celebrating our comeback I think that it will be great to check a new part from our The Metal Divas series. This part is full of power with slight changes in our format to be easier to follow!     Adrastea (Greece ) A great voice shining from the lands of Hera and Zeus, Adrastea is rocking the Greek Metal Scene with her band Entropy Devine.  We  started with Adrastea by asking her about how she started her career.  "   I have been singing since I can remember myself. I was always a rocker so I remember I would always find a way to secretly sneak into music related activities.  I was not allowed to learn music, cause, you know  I am a woman and I should do all that society expects from a woman and nothing more.)  So I figured creative ways of doing so as a part of my Rock 'N Roll rebellion while  growing up,"  she answered. Next, we asked her about how she met her band mates.   " From an ad in search
