And, as I announced early this year, I am giving mor care for the Greek and the Italian Metal bands, so make sure of following our upcoming reviews.
The Review
“Catharsis” album consists of 11 original tracks as the following:
1- Catharsis (Intro)
2- The Purge
3- Cleanse Their Sins
4- No Escape
5-Whispers in the Dark
6-Shrine of Wisdom
7-Veil of Faith
8-Salvation
9- A Curse Unfolding
10- Lustful Desires
11- Weaver of Destiny
The album was opened with very catchy short intro. It was so horrific Symphonic mood with screams and orchestral chanting. As for me, the intro did a great job for preparing me for the album, especially that “The Pruge” was somehow influenced with the intro. With heavy tunes and groovy beats “The Purge” was opened.
In 2:18, it was a calm part of sweet clean singing with sneaking whispers. This calm mood is turned to be a real calling from an Ancient Greek diva with ancient theatrical choirs, I found that the best description for this part. I could touch the harmony between the choirs, the backing vocals and the lead ones. The solo also was good.
“Cleanse Their Sins” is the next track. It was opened with dynamic riff followed with rhythmic performance of the choirs. The waves of the melodies gave the ears enjoyment. Panariti’s vocals were like the maestro of this symphony. In general, the track was a mini symphony or mini Epic. You can feel the presence of the Iliad within it.
Upcoming next is “No Escape”. Calm and emotional guitar and bass sounds opened the track. Honestly, this is the most track I could feel its keys work. I loved the darkened and enraged mood of the track especially in the Drummer performance. The alerting sounds of the guitars enriched the dynamic mood of the music.
Next is “Whispers in the Dark”. This track was somehow different as I felt that it was somehow oriental. The presence of the choirs was back again to the music.
Next is “Shrine of Wisdom” and “Veil of Faith” which are the best tracks of the album from my point of view. Simply, I can taste the Symphonic musical taste! It was a clear evidence for calling Meden Agan a Symphonic Metal Band!
You can trace the beauty of strong, well composed Melodic Metal tunes, the epical Symphonic and orchestral mood. The shifts between movements were really good. So. “Shrine of Wisdom” and “Veil of Faith” are very good tracks technically.
But, “Veil of Faith” carried a wonderful epic intro. It is somehow influenced with Dimmu Borgir and Septicflesh. Again, well-harmonized music and vocals.
The following track was somehow special track as it gave the vocals a wider chance to show them. It was a slow-tempo track with a charming, calm tunes of guitars and keys. The vocals were somehow darkened.
It is “A Curse Unfolding” turn. Believe me, this track carried the best employment for the Symphonic lines. The riffs were really active and catchy. Also, there was a clear vocals variety. The best part for me is the harmony between keys and the solo.
Now, it is “Lustful Desires” turn. We can call it the heaviest track of the album. It was really enraged, full of rage and hatred. Sneaking, sinful smells that flown around the rooms of the false faith! Shocking image! This is what I felt from this track. It was like shocking shaking!
The final track is “Weaver of Destiny”. It was opened with horrific whispers and scary riffs with a background of orchestral music. The duet between female and male vocals was like the conversation between good and evil. The employment of this shocking whispers was like the evil whispers of Satan. The track carried the best solo performance of the album.
To sum up, I want to send my greetings for the great job that Meden Agan and I want to send them all the support and wish them the best of luck for their upcoming performances with Dimlight, Saturnus and Rotting Christ! We can say that 2019 will be a good promotion for the album through the heavy live performances Meden Agan are getting ready for.
The rate is: 8/10
