Exclusive: Dimlight's Vocalist "Mora" Speaks about her Career, and Dimlight's Upcoming Performance in Cairo
Few months ago, Metal Blast Festival announced that our Greek brothers, Greek Symphonic Metal band Dimlight will headline the upcoming round of the festival for the second time through there career.
But this time Dimlight is back with 2 gifts for their Egyptian fans: a new album and a new female vocalist, Mora after Eva departed ways with the band early this year. And of course Eva is still present in the memories of the Egyptian Metalheads since 2016.
After Metal Blast Festival announcement of Dimlight presence in the upcoming concert, Egyptian Metalheads shows support, and welcoming towards the band, and excitement to see Mora's performance on the stage.
Yesterday, I contacted Mora and asked her if we can make a short interview. I was so happy that she accepted. It's really great to bring the talented Mora a one step closer to the Egyptian Metal fans, and to know more about her thoughts regarding the upcoming concert, and to know more about here as a musician.

Hello Mora, thank you for accepting the invitation for this interview. Let me start with joining Dimlight lines, How did Dimlight contact you to combine forces with them?
Hi Rana and thank you for this short interview! Dimlight conducted a long phase of auditions. I attended three sessions and after some days, they reached back at me, announcing I was the most capable for the job.
Can you tell us how did you discover your vocals abilities and join the Greek Metal Scene?
I first started singing when I was 14, studying modern vocals at a local conservatory. Although I attended my first vocal lesson almost by accident, after school I decided that this was the thing for me, so I started studying classical vocals and piano at the age of 18.
Years passed and I got devoted to it, I am about to finish my opera diploma and counterpoint, I already have a degree in harmony. So that's what pretty much occupied me the last few years. I've been working on some band projects but none was that significant. I was ready for a new chapter in my career, and Dimlight showed up right on time.
What are your main musical influences? &
What are your favorite Metal bands in Greece and in general?
What are your favorite Metal bands in Greece and in general?
Hard to mention only a few, I would definitely say Ronnie James Dio, Layne Staley, Roy Khan, Simone Simons, Amy Lee as my favorite singers.
Also Pantera, Lamb of God, Katatonia, Paradise Lost, Chelsea Wolfe, Obscure Sphinx, Dark Tranquility could be some of my influences, but still there many more that I love deeply and would like to mention. As for the Greek scene, I totally admire Septic Flesh, Androniki Skoula (Chaostar) and of course Universe 217.
As you will perform for the first time in Egypt, Do you have any background about the scene in Egypt?
So far, I've heard only the best for the metal scene in Egypt not only for the bands but for the fans as well. A very warm and welcoming crowd - my bandmates tell me - but also I witnessed myself from the warming messages I'm receiving all this time.
Finally, Can you share with us the thoughts that are in your mind regarding your performance in Egypt? What do you expect? Is there any concern?
Lastly, I have only positive thoughts about our show in Cairo, I'm very excited and cant wait for it! To be honest the boys told me you guys are all crazy and that makes me think that I don't know what to expect at all, so I just need to see for myself! haha! See you on the other side of the stage!
See you soon Mora, in CAIRO!
